I started Soak iT Up to add a little cheer to chores. And the best way to share cheer? Give it to a friend.
Our cloths are funny, useful and flat, which makes them the easiest gift you'll ever wrap. Even better, they are the wrap. Here are my favorite ways to give one.
1. Tie it on a bottle of wine Punch a hole in one corner, thread ribbon or twine through, and tie it around the neck of the bottle. Our Time to Wine Red and Time to Wine White cloths were made for this. They'll use it to wipe up the drips, too. Watch how to tie one on here.
2. Dress up a six-pack or growler Same trick, different bottle. Tie a cloth on the handle of a six-pack for the beer lover, the tailgater or the neighbor who plowed your driveway. Our favorite Swedish cloth: Is it hot in here or do I just need a beer?
3. Top off olive oil, maple syrup or homemade vanilla A pretty bottle plus a cloth makes a gift that looks like you tried hard. You didn't. That's our secret. How about a Gardener's Sow Much More
4. Make a jar topper Set a cloth over the lid of a jar of jam, honey, salsa or cookie mix. Wrap twine around the rim and tie a bow. It's the classic fabric jar topper, except this one cleans the counter later.
5. Tie it on a gift basket Loop it on the handle or tuck it in with the goodies. It fits any theme: kitchen, coffee, wine night, new home, "get well soon." You Fuel Up My Senses dishcloth is perfect.
6. Use it as the gift tag Skip the paper tag that goes straight in the trash. Tie on a cloth instead, and the tag becomes part of the gift. For the holidays, our gift tags make it even easier.
7. Stuff the stocking Cloths lie flat, weigh almost nothing and fit in any stocking. At $7, it's the stocking stuffer that gets used every day, not forgotten in a drawer by New Year's.
8. Tuck in a gift card Fold a cloth around a gift card for a teacher, a coach or a mail carrier. Gift cards feel a little impersonal. This fixes that.
9. Wrap a small gift A bar of soap, a candle or a pair of fun socks fits right inside a cloth. Fold the corners up and tie it with twine.
10. Build a "clean up nice" bundle Pair a cloth with our Sheet Happens laundry sheets for a gift that handles the dishes and the laundry. Housewarmings, college move-ins, new parents. Anyone with chores, really. So, everyone.
Need a card to go with it? That's why I made Clards: greeting cards that turn into reusable, washable, compostable cleaning cloths. Write your note, send it, and the card becomes the gift. More giving options, less trash.
Not sure what to write inside? We've got you covered.
Why a cloth makes a great gift
- It's useful. One cloth replaces up to 17 rolls of paper towels.
- It's funny. Our designs make doing the dishes a little less of a chore.
- It lasts. With good care, a cloth lasts 6 to 8 months. Here's how to care for it.
- It's compostable. When it's worn out, it goes in the compost, not the landfill.
Gifts should feel good to give and feel great to get. This one does both, and then it does the dishes.
